Anteros Arts Foundation

Double Whammy

Did you know we have TWO screenings this week? Whaaaat?

First up we are screening some short films and animations based on the theme ‘Arts and Wellbeing’ at the Undercroft by the marketplace this Thursday as part of Norwich Fringe Festival.

We’ve always wanted to hold a screening in this awesome (and slightly creepy) underground location and this week we will be showing a mixture of locally and globally made, funny and thought-provoking, short and really short films and animations.

Pieces screened explore the way we see the world, how we can use film narrative to document our lives and meditation through practice.

The evening will run from 7-9pm on Thursday 15th October, is £2 entry on the door and there will be a small donation bar and popcorn available!

You can find out more about this and other Fringe Festival events and the exhibition at http://www.norwichfringefestival.co.uk/15-october-norwich-underground-cinema.html

Next up we have a screening at the Bicycle Shop, St. Benedict Street on Sunday celebrating the Bike shop’s 6th (it’s grown up so fast!) birthday.

The theme is Coming Of Age and will feature 18+ material. Short films and animations screened will be a bit naughty, feature swearing, angst ridden plots and themes of sexuality, exploring the darker side of life, loss of innocence, louche and metamorphosis.

The evening will run from 7pm on Sunday 18th October and will feature alternating d-j sets through the night. The bar absolutely will be available and tapas too! So join us for some 18+ film club times.

Hi All!

We hope you’ve had a great summer full of fun and sunshine!

We had a lovely night at Anteros Arts Foundation, thanks to Alex and Flick. The courtyard was a beautiful space to hold an evening of films and there were some lush drinks on offer. Here’s to more of that, perhaps in Winter….

Last Sunday we took part in a fundraising event for the stroke unit in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. There was a little NUFC installation in the foyer of the Maddermarket Theatre, alongside and evening of local cabaret acts. Very well done to Lou for organising that.

Our next event will take place in our home of the Bicycle Shop, which is celebrating it’s 6th Birthday on the 18th of this October! Congratulations! We will be based downstairs in the Handle Bar and have a live DJ set either side of the showcase to mark this momentous occasion.

The theme of the evening is: Coming of Age. This means we are looking for adult content, strictly over 18 stuff. This could include naughty films, films with swearing, angst ridden themes and themes of sexuality, exploring the darker side of life, loss of innocence, louche, metamorphosis and ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!

As per usual all films need to be under 25 mins in length and contain all original material unless permission granted. Submission is free and the deets are in the form below:

Outside Short Shorts for the Summer

No one wants to sit in a dark room to watch movies at this time of year, they’d much rather be watching them in an awesome old courtyard at sunset!

Earlier than planned we have put together a little event for you and having teamed up with the awesome crew at Anteros Arts foundation we are really looking forward to bringing you OPEN AIR SHORTS.

We will show some classic film club favourites and some new ones. So join us for a good night of short films and animations inspired by the outdoors!

(There will be a bar, some snacks and it won’t rain.*)

Film Club is Renovating

You may have noticed that Norwich Underground Film Club has been a little quiet of late. But worry not very-short-film lovers, Film Club has not disappeared forever!

Alice and I have been overwhelmed with how much interest there has been in our little event over the past year or so. We are giving some time to work and life stuff but are hatching some plans to take film club to the next level.

Among ideas, we hope to bring Film Club to some new venues, incorporate lots of new artists and are organising some events starting at Norwich Sound and Vision festival this October. We would love you to get in touch if you have any ideas.

Our events won’t be bi-monthly but I can only hope this will make them bigger and better than ever! So watch this wordpress for more awesome and slightly aloof Norwich short-film and animation nights.
